Doheny Eye Institute Histology/Immunopathology Core

The Histology/Immunopathology Core laboratory (histology laboratory) operates under the direction of Dr. Narsing Rao and is supervised by Elisa Gonzalez. The facility is located within the Doheny Vision Research Center (DVRC Room 211). Priority is given to work that is supported by NEI R01 and U10 grant funding.

Most of the tissue material for light microscopy can be processed in this laboratory with the assistance of the senior technologist. Current services offered by the Histology/Immunopathology Core include:

  1. Processing and embedding for paraffin or frozen sections of ocular globes or other tissue samples
  2. Tissue sectioning of frozen and paraffin-embedded blocks
  3. Routine and specialized immunohistochemical staining
  4. Immunofluorescence staining of paraffin and frozen sections and analysis
  5. In situ hybridizations and PCR techniques
  6. Consultation for tissue pathology analysis
